Collins, Aldrich earn All-American honors

Sherron Collins was named to the AP All-American second team and Cole Aldrich was named to the third team. The two team leaders will be leaving the school at the end of the year. Enlarge video

Kansas senior guard Sherron Collins and junior center Cole Aldrich both earned Associated Press All-American status Monday.

Collins was named to the AP All-America second team, while Aldrich was a third-team selection.

Kentucky put a pair of players on the first team, as freshman guard John Wall and freshman forward DeMarcus Cousins both made the list. Ohio State's Evan Turner, Syracuse's Wesley Johnson and Villanova's Scottie Reynolds also were first-team selections.

Collins was joined on the second team by Oklahoma State's James Anderson, Maryland's Greivis Vasquez, Duke's Jon Scheyer and West Virginia's Da'Sean Butler.

Earning third-team honors with Aldrich were Georgetown's Greg Monroe, Texas' Damion James, Notre Dame's Luke Harangody and New Mexico's Darington Hobson.

Considering they where both pre-season 1st team all-americans, does they mean they did not play as well as expected?

Unfortunately, I think that's exactly what it means.

Collins was predicted to be second-team by the sources I read. Cole was expected to improve as much again as he improved from Frosh to Sophomore, and he certainly didn't do that.

They both stunk up the joint. I think Collins was lucky to get 2nd team.
