March 24, 2010

— The Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday released second-year power forward Darnell Jackson.

“Darnell was a good, hard-working teammate for us. We thank him and wish him the best going forward,” Cavs’ general manager Danny Ferry said.

Jackson averaged 0.8 points on 32.0 percent shooting and 0.7 rebounds while logging 4.3 minutes per game in 27 games this season.

Jackson is now a free agent.

Here's an object lesson for all those who dream of NBA glory, D-block was one of my favorite players on the '08 championship team, I hope he salted away some of those NBA bucks for the future, and can catch on in Europe or someplace else. He's got a good work ethic, and I wish him well. Thanks for the KU memories, D-Block. I hope all the NBA wannabees on the KU roster pay attention to this, the NBA is not a good ultimate goal.

Darnell was my favorite player on that team. The way he always patted his heart for his Grandmother after making a shot showed what a loving son and grandson he is. He was a good example of Danny Manning's coaching abilities. I wish him well and hope some other team will pick hiim up and take advantage of his skill and work ethic. Good luck Darnell.

I hope someone can pick him up. He's a great success story and a wonderful human being. I've had the pleasure of meeting him and he's a great person.
