A 48-year-old Lawrence man entered a plea Friday to multiple charges of sexually abusing teenage girls.
Terry S. Pennay pleaded no contest to two counts of indecent liberties with a child and one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
The Douglas County District Attorney’s office said the case involved three victims and was discovered in March 2009 when a mother brought her daughter to talk to investigators with the Lawrence Police Department.
The 14-year-old girl told police she had been at Pennay’s home and he had touched her inappropriately.
Police then learned of the two other victims during the course of investigating the case.
All of the victims were between the ages of 14 and 16.
Pennay is scheduled to be sentenced April 27.
He faces between 31 and 136 months in prison on each of the indecent liberties convictions. A charge of aggravated indecent liberties carries a sentence of between 55 and 247 months in prison.

Are you kidding??? This is Douglas County. He will be send home on probation, ordered to go back to the same therapists and not be allowed in the area of minors without another adult present. He will have to be registered. Thats all he will get. This county has no idea what to do with these sick pieces of....... so they just give them 60 days in jail and some probation. Thats why there are so many in this county.

if run consecutively, Terry Pennay's going to the bighouse for a very many years!
The 14-year-old girl told police she had been at Pennay’s home and he had touched her inappropriately.
---so, just where is Pennay's home? often in these articles ljworld will say "in north lawrence" or "east lawrence." so one is left to assume since his location was not referenced he lives in *west lawrence or south lawrence?

Dang militant. Looks like you got ants in your pants over that pants blog. You be hoppin' mad.

gnome~A white pages search will show he may live in rural Douglas county, possibly northwest. If Lawrence wants to claim him as one of their own they can have him

It won't be long before microchips start being placed in sex offenders for monitoring via the satelites. Many of you may think this would be a good thing, and I am inclined to agree about implanting chips in child molestors. However, it won't stop there, who would be next? Murderer's. Then who? Car thieves? After that, shop lifters, pot smokers etc. That would pretty much open the door to implanting at birth for "Our own saftey". Be prepared, it is coming.

He probably moved to Lawerence from Topeka though, right?
tanaumaga (anonymous) says…
lawrence definately has it's fair share of scumbags....just like any other town or city in kansas....
anonyname (anonymous) says…
What's the point of trying to figure out where he lives at the moment? He currently lives in a place where he doesn't control the locks on the doors. Once he has served however long the judge sentences him to - which should be a long time - he'll be on the sex offender registry for the rest of his life, and it will be simple to find out at that point if he lives anywhere near you.
About the sentences listed in months: do the math. 117 to 519 months = anywhere from 9 years and 9 months to 43 years 3 months. He won't be seeing daylight any time soon.

Thanks Roe. yeah, I'd have called that lecompton but oh well.

my point in asking was that often in these articles it'll say "in his east lawrence home" or "at a north lawrence residence."
yes if judges behave themselves Pennay is going away for ten years or a lot more.

619 Whitfield St. in Lecompton, which is across the street from the grade school.
setemup (anonymous) says…
hipper, he was kicked out of the trailer park in the Lecompton about four years ago. After he left there he went to live by Perry Lake somewhere. I can not believe it has taken so long to do something about this man. For years it was rumored that he had a thing for little girls. There were investigations into that when he lived in Lecompton but nothing ever happened. somebodynew is correct.....there are some that he got away with before this!
bad_dog (anonymous) says…
So folks, if he has/had a Lecompton address, why does the headline state "...Lawrence man..."?

btw, big wind, I have daughters and granddaughters, so when perverts are walking the streets it is my business.
Buggie (anonymous) says…
Im telling ya 60 days in jail counseling and KBI list. there are some in east lawrence that got the same thing. Look at the KBI list you will see who they are where they live and they have the same offense. Problem is is that the courts dont know what to do with these people so they do a lil time in county are told they are sent home on probation.
Our attorney general is famous for this. I have seen some of his cases when he was a judge.
bearded_gnome (anonymous) says…
whatsa matter Psychclone??
are you Pennay himself?
a lewd criminal stealing the innocence of young girls is *everybody's* business!
I'd happily tug on Ceallach's rope and kick the barrel out from under him hanging from Bigguy's tree.
who knew about this and did nothing, permitting it to continue? charge them too and make an example.
oh, wait, Psychclone might just be Pennay's buddy and maybe knew about it!
if so, Psychclone, will you turn yourself in? on the dgso booking sheet they call that self arrest I believe.
turning your back and letting it continue, that's conspiracy?
Ceallach (anonymous) says…
You go, Gnome!!

Ceallach (anonymous) says…
It may not be safe, setemup. I've been threatened you know :-\ bigdave, too. Do you think that will justify my taking off work for a week or so to get over the trauma?

We know Terry also and have known him for more than 11 years. We truly believe he was not himself for quite a while and we were appalled when we heard of this. Our hearts go out to his children and his family. Please, do not assume you know anything, unless you know the victims. We do not and never will condone the molestation of children, but we will not assume we know everything either.
workinghard (anonymous) says…
Are you implying it is the victims fault? Your heart goes out to his family but not the victims?
Aphlixionator (anonymous) says…
No one is implying it is anyone's fault but Pennay's. She only means that, knowing the family personally, she feels for them, as do I. It's been hard on everyone involved, and his own children have to suffer with knowing what their father did.
