Kansas courts to close for four Fridays

? Because of budget cuts, the Kansas Supreme Court has ordered that Kansas courts will be closed on four Fridays: April 9, 16, 23 and May 7.

On those days, nonjudicial staff will be placed on involuntary unpaid leave, also known as furlough.

During the closures, the only district court proceedings that may be conducted are those that involve critical functions, such as issuing protective orders and arrest warrants, and holding juvenile proceedings.
