Man arrested after incident with Greyhound bus driver

Lawrence police arrested a California man Saturday morning on charges of aggravated assault and criminal damage after the man became angered on a Greyhound bus. According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Mark Warren, the incident began on Sixth Street at 10:08 a.m.

The man had requested to be let off the bus at an unapproved stop, a request the driver denied. The man then attempted to gain entry into the driver’s area but was restrained by another passenger.

The man was let off and proceeded to throw rocks at the bus, breaking the windshield. The shattered glass flew toward the driver, a Missouri woman. The driver was not injured. Damage estimates for the shattered windshield were more than $1,000.
