Rape is reported on KU campus

Kansas University police are investigating a sex crime that reportedly happened on campus early Thursday.

According to a police report on the KU Public Safety Office website, the victim was sexually battered and raped near a parking lot.

No information was provided regarding the victim or the attacker.

The report identifies the location of the incident as Lot 100, which includes several parking areas that surround the scholarship halls near 14th Street and Alumni Place.

KU spokeswoman Jill Jess said the scholarship halls were empty for the summer break.

KU police on Sunday said they were unable to comment on the crime because the incident report is unavailable until today. The Douglas County sheriff’s booking log does not show any arrests involving sex crimes from the time the crime was reported.
