A 29-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Friday morning after striking a woman with a gardening tool. According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Dave Hubbel, the incident occurred in the 2100 block of Carolina Street. Hubbel said the couple had been arguing for a while when the man struck the woman with the tool. The woman was not seriously injured during the incident.

The man was booked into the Douglas County Jail on charges of aggravated battery.
