The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department identified the victim in a one-car accident early Sunday morning as Irina Seitz, 18, Lawrence.

Seitz was flown to a Kansas City-area hospital after being ejected from her car in an accident that occurred around 2:45 a.m. Sunday in southwest Douglas County.

The sheriff’s department said Seitz missed a curve on county road 458 at East 850 Road.

Her 2002 Volkswagen Jetta left the road, entered a farm field and flipped several times.

Emergency crews took Seitz to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was later transported by air ambulance to a Kansas City-area hospital.

It isn’t known whether she was wearing a seat belt. The sheriff’s department said alcohol and speed could have been factors in the crash.
