Two memorial funds have been set up by friends and family in support of a Meridan, Kan. family who lost three little girls in a car accident in Jefferson County.

Eight-year-old Katelynn Spencer and her 5-year-old sister, Alissa, were killed in the crash at 134th and Meriden Road on Wednesday morning.

Four-year-old Madelynn Spencer died on Thursday afternoon after she was taken off life support at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

Those interested can make a donation to the Spencer Family Support Fund at Exchange Bank, 600 Commercial Street, in Atchison, Kan. or to the Kendall State Bank c/o the Spencer Children, 406 Broadway, in Valley Falls, Kan. Contact information for both banks is located in the sidebar of this story.

The girls were riding in a 1996 Oldsmobile with their mother, 33-year-old Stephanie Spencer, when the car was hit by a 2002 Chevy TrailBlazer. Spencer was taken to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, where she remained as of Thursday.

The driver of the TrailBlazer, Robert Hutchins, 27, of Valley Falls, was treated and released Wednesday from Stormont-Vail.
