Hearing for former Westar execs delayed

? A pretrial hearing for two former Westar Energy executives accused of looting Kansas’ largest electric utility has been put off.

Federal prosecutors and lawyers for David Wittig and Douglas Lake had been scheduled Tuesday to argue several pending issues, including certain evidence and where the two men’s third trial will be held.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports the hearing before U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson was postponed. It wasn’t immediately clear whether a new date was set.

Wittig was chief executive officer of Westar and Lake was his top strategy officer. They’re charged with conspiracy and several counts of circumventing internal controls to hide their actions.

The two men’s first trial ended in a hung jury and a conviction in their second trial was overturned.

Their third trial is scheduled to start Sept. 20.
