Henry sits out; Jackson scores 17

Former Kansas University guard Xavier Henry of the Memphis Grizzlies did not make his NBA summer league debut Monday night because of what appears to be a contract dispute with the team, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

“We have not come to contractual terms with him so my understanding is that his agent (Arn Tellem) decided not to let him play in the summer league until a contract is signed,” Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley told the paper Monday night.

Henry was the 12th overall pick in the first round of the NBA’s June draft. In that draft slot, he is slated to make $1.683 million next season. There’s no timetable for his signing the contract, Heisley said.

Ex-Jayhawk Darrell Arthur did play in the Grizzlies’ 89-85 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Arthur had 17 points on 8-for-13 shooting with seven rebounds.

Former KU forward Darnell Jackson of Milwaukee scored 17 points off 8-of-15 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds in the Bucks’ 73-72 loss to Dallas. Former KU and Gonzaga guard Micah Downs had six points in 14 minutes for Milwaukee.

Former KU guard Russell Robinson scored 17 points and had four steals and two assists in the NBA Developmental League all-stars’ 96-88 loss to Phoenix. Robinson hit three of seven shots (2-for-4 threes) and nine of 13 free throws.
