Highway 40 re-opened after injury accident southwest of Lecompton

Accident closes U.S. 40 Friday afternoon

East 500 Road and U.S. 40

A Lecompton man suffered serious injuries Friday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident southwest of Lecompton.

David Robles, 51, was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 40 in a silver, newer model Chevrolet pickup truck when he lost control of the vehicle about 4:15 p.m. near the intersection of East 500 Road and U.S. 40. The highway was briefly closed and traffic detoured onto Stull Road.

Robles was transported by helicopter ambulance to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka. The hospital would not release information about Robles’ condition Friday night.

Emergency crews from Lecompton, Kanwaka Township and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical responded to the accident.

I'm a little confused as to the location of the accident. The map shows it as intersecting at Hwy 40 and 400Rd, is the accident there or south east at Hwy 40 and County Road 442 (what I know as Stull Road)?

I've updated the map. Thanks for catching that. Originally the call came through at 400 and was updated to 500. We updated the text, but forgot the map.

Sounds like the guy was a total nutcase after listening to the eye witness report. It's a wonder others were injured with his bad behavior.
