Turner records triple double, LHS girls roll

January 29, 2010

— Jasmyn Turner recorded a triple double to lead the Lawrence High girls basketball team to a 68-51 victory over Wichita North on Thursday in the first round of the Capital City Classic.

Turner recorded 18 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals.

“I had no idea until our manager brought us the stat sheet afterwards,” LHS coach Nick Wood said. “I told the girls after the game, I’m not real big into highlighting individual performances, but when she gets rebounds and steals like that, it helps us out immensely and leads to so many things. It really got our offensive transition going and set the tone for the entire game.”

Haley Parker pitched in 18 points for Lawrence (3-6), which will play in the second round at 5:30 p.m. today.

I don't know if roll is the accurate word, as Wichita NOrth got within 10 in the final quarter, scoring 8 unanswered points but the first half was as good as they played all season.

Wow, Jazz, that was incredible. Know your mom got a big kick out of her not-so-little girl. You've transformed into quite a talented and beautiful young lady. Wishing you the best for the season....and beyond.
