Trial in shooting case takes strange turn

A victim involved in an attempted robbery that led to two people being shot refused to testify against the two people Tuesday. Both people shot during the incident back in August were originally in serious condition. Enlarge video

A Douglas County judge on Wednesday ordered a man to spend 30 days in jail, one day after he refused to testify against two men accused of trying to rob him.

The 24-year-old man told Judge Robert Fairchild that he understood the court’s order, but that he was afraid of the defendants and would not testify.

On Tuesday, the man was taken into custody after he refused to take the stand during a preliminary hearing for Louis Galloway Jr., 19, Lawrence, and Timothy Hays, 20, Kansas City.

The victim shot both men during what prosecutors say was an attempted robbery on Aug. 23 at the victim’s mobile home at Easy Living Mobile Home Park, 3323 Iowa.

The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office dismissed the cases against the two defendants.

This case has drug dealers from front to back. No honor amongst thieves and drug dealers, it appears.

Drug dealers have a right to protect their life and property too.

why is the LJW protecting the name of the victim?

I call B.S. The accused can make any accusation they want to, but law enforcement still has to have concrete evidence before the victim can be charged for drugs.

i knew a punk that got a get out of jail free card when he rolled over on a couple of his doper buddies. the police said they would protect him, but they couldnt do much. every time this punk left his house someone would take him to a back alley and beat the crap out of him the police threatened the bad guys and they laughed at him finaly the guy left his family, his job, and fell off the face of the earth. no one has heard from him but rumor is he is ok, but out of state/ so much to be said for copping a plea to get out of jail and ratting out some drug dealers, maybe he got what he deserved>?

Big Dave is correct. This was a drug related crime. The dealer was the shooter. The dealer did not want to incriminate himself and most likey does not know about the 5th Amendment.

The victim didn't want to testify for fear the WHOLE story may come out. He's not a brave guy unless he's holding a gun.

Be in denial but louie has friends who would not hesitate to help him out. Just do a LJW search on Louie or even Galloway. Then run other names in those articles . Eventually you will get the picture.

two people make up a gang? how many in a posse?

Why wouldn't he be in fear. Louis Galloway was out of jail after the incident pending charges.. The D.A. eventually filed and Galloway has a extensive history. The problem is that Galloway will likely not serve time since he was shot and so was his brother. The victim can expect that the gang to return for revenge.

so this guy is obviously afraid of retaliation. what is this judge thinking? We have the right to plead the 5th amendment in this country to avoid self incrimination. I believe this law should hold a precedence here as well.

In the 'hood you see this all the time. nobody sees nothin'.

Way to go Judge !!! This is why crime isn't "solved" and why idiots are back on the street so soon to commit more crime - because people won't talk.

I personally hope this s*um spends more time in jail than the two guys spent in the hospital. And, if he should be the "victim" of revenge, I hope the City doesn't spend many resources investigating it.

Maybe it was all just a big misunderstanding.

Surely Obama could have stopped this if he was just trying! What kind of president is he that he could let this happen on his watch?

parrothead8 (Anonymous) says… Maybe, but the original story reported that, according to police, the two guys who got shot were trying to rob the guy who shot them.

Ya rob him of his dope!!!!! Thats why he don't want to testify! He should of just took the 5th!!

runningscooter (Anonymous) says… Is it possible the victims were the ones shot? Maybe that's why the shooter isn't cooperating. Two sides to every story. Just sayin'.

There must be more to this story. It appears that the victim was arrested a second time for a failure to appear warrant after he was booked into Douglas County Jail.

And if/when the two thieves move up to murder, I hope the victim knows he could have stopped them.
