Sgt. Dale Heiserman was retiring after 28 years with the Kansas Highway Patrol. He originally was stationed at McPherson and transferred to Lawrence in 1963. He had held a number of major supervisory posts with the KHP during his career and planned to stay in Lawrence after retirement.
