Longtime KU professor dies

A longtime communications studies professor at Kansas University has died.

Nobleza Asuncion-Lande, 72, had worked at KU since 1968, and was inducted into KU’s Women’s Hall of Fame in 2001.

She died Saturday at her home. Services are planned for 10 a.m. Feb. 27 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center, 1631 Crescent Road.

“Dr. Lande was a colleague, mentor and friend to the department and to all of the people in it — faculty, graduate students and undergraduate students, past and present,” said Beth Innocenti, chairwoman of the department of communications studies. “She was a leading scholar in intercultural communication, and her service to students in our department and colleagues in the discipline was ongoing.”
