Candidate for KU music dean currently at Washington school

Kansas University has announced the second of three finalists for dean of the School of Music.

Murry Sidlin is dean of the School of Music at Catholic University of America, a school in Washington.

Before going to Catholic University, he was resident conductor of the Oregon Symphony. He has also been a tenured professor at the University of Minnesota, where he was director of orchestral and conducting studies.

Sidlin will meet with faculty, staff and students at a public forum at 3 p.m. Friday at 118 Murphy Hall.

The first finalist for the position is Wade Weast, director of the School of Music at the University of South Florida. The final candidate is expected to be announced late next week.
