Performance in Manhattan, against Missouri earns Aldrich Big 12 player of the week honors

Kansas center Cole Aldrich gets up to defend Kansas State forward Luis Colon's shot during the first half Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at Bramlage Coliseum.

With 12 points and 16 rebounds against Missouri and 18 points and 11 rebounds against Kansas State, KU junior Cole Aldrich picked up player of the week honors from the Big 12 Conference Monday morning.

This is Aldrich’s second player of the week honor of the year, and also the second of his career.

Aldrich picked up a double-double in both games this past week, pushing his season total to 9 games where the 6-foot-11 forward had more than 10 points and more than 10 rebounds.

Aldrich is the only Jayhawk to earn Player of the Week honors this year, though freshman Xavier Henry has two rookie of the week honors.

Oklahoma’s Tommy Mason-Griffin was this week’s Rookie of the Week.
