Lawrence police arrested a 40-year-old Lawrence man on charges of possession of stolen property Thursday shortly after midnight. The man was stopped in the 2700 block of West 24th Terrace while driving a 1995 Toyota Tercel that had been stolen Tuesday night around 11 p.m. from the Checkers Grocery Store parking lot, 2300 La. The suspect fled on foot, but was located a few blocks away about an hour later.

The man has been booked into the Douglas County Jail and bond was set at $1,500.
