Man arrested on charge of aggravated battery of Lawrence police officer

A 22-year-old KU student was arrested early Thursday morning on multiple charges, including aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, driving while intoxicated and attempting to flee from an officer.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Bronson Star, a police officer was performing a traffic stop in the 1800 block of West 23rd Street when the suspect turned the car on and accelerated. Star said the officer got caught in the window, but after the car drove in a circle in the parking lot, the officer was able to shift the car into park and handcuff the suspect.

The officer was not injured in the incident.
