A 22-year-old man was the victim of an aggravated battery early Monday morning in the 900 block of Illinois Street.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl, police were dispatched to the area at about 1:30 a.m. when a fight occurred at a house party. Hadl said uninvited guests showed up at the party and were asked to leave. A fight broke out in the front yard, and the victim went to the defense of someone he knew. He got punched in the side of the head and then fell to the ground, where he was hit multiple times.

He was transported to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries to his face and jaw. There is no suspect in the case.
