Kansas City, Kan. ? A sheriff’s deputy has been injured and an inmate she was transporting is dead following a crash on Interstate 70 in northeast Kansas.

Authorities say three vehicles were involved in the wreck around noon Thursday near the Kansas Speedway exit in Kansas City, Kan.

WIBW-AM reports the victim was a female inmate being transported by a Wyandotte County sheriff’s deputy.

Several lanes of westbound I-70 were closed after the crash.
