Players plead not guilty in hazing at Pittsburg State football camp

? Nine football players from Seneca, Mo., pleaded not guilty to charges arising from an alleged hazing of younger Seneca players during a Pittsburg State football camp.

The players entered their pleas Tuesday in Crawford County Court. The charges include misdemeanor battery, felony aggravated battery and aggravated battery.

The students were charged after at least eight freshman football players reportedly were hazed by upperclassmen during the football camp in June.

Prosecutors said the most serious incidents involved students being hit with plastic curtain rods from window blinds.

Eight of the students are charged as juveniles and one as an adult. Deputy County Attorney Reina Probert said the prosecution still might seek to charge two of the juveniles as adults.
