Nine drivers arrested on alcohol charges during special patrol in Douglas County

Kansas troopers arrested nine people for driving under the influence during a special enforcement effort Saturday night in Douglas County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol released results from the Roving Aggressive Violation Enforcement (RAVE).

Troopers tested 19 drivers for driving under the influence, resulting in the nine arrests. One person was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Troopers also issued 21 citations for speeding, 14 tickets for hazardous moving violations and seven tickets for seat belt violations. Troopers handed out another 16 citations for various misdemeanor and other traffic offenses.

In all, troopers had contact with 118 people.

The RAVE enforcement effort was funded by an Impaired Driving Deterrence Program grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
