The Pittsburg Sun reported Monday night that Dylan Meier, the older brother of former Kansas University wide receiver Kerry Meier, died this weekend after falling from a cliff while hiking with family members in Arkansas.

Dylan Meier, 26, played quarterback at Kansas State from 2002-06. Meier, a Pittsburg High School graduate, slipped while attempting to climb up a rock to get a better view, the paper indicated. Prior to the accident, he was set to travel to Korea to teach English. KMBC-TV reported via Twitter that all members of the Meier family were present except for older brother Shad.

Regardless of where your college loyalities lie, in unarguable that the Meier family are quality human beings as well as athletes. I think Dylan's plans to teach in Korea speak to his selflessness as well as an adventurous spirit. We're all diminished by his passing. The Meier family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I will be keeping the Meier family in my prayers. This is such a tragic loss. The Meier family has given so much to the State of Kansas. At this time, Jayhawk Nation needs to make sure our voice is also heard in expressing sympathy, love and support for Kerry and the entire Meier family. May they be surrounded by God's love.

God bless the entire Meier family. It's tough enough to be an elderly family member when they pass away peacefully, but to be present when a relatively young man falls to his death would be horrific. How tragic and sad.
