Lawrence tennis takes third

The Lawrence High tennis team placed third on Saturday in the Shawnee Heights Tournament at Lake Shawnee.

Eric Long went 5-0 and took first place for the Lions in the No. 2 singles spot. Long, who had been playing doubles all year, gave singles a try for the first time this season. Not a bad first showing.

“I didn’t know what to expect,” LHS coach Chris Marshall said. “He impressed me with his control and how patient he was. It was fun to watch. I was very pleased with Eric’s performance.”

Lawrence will participate in the Topeka West Invitational on Tuesday.
