After-school programs in Baldwin City and Eudora school districts will lose their state financing as of July 1, Douglas County commissioners agreed Wednesday.

Prevention programs that will not be financed through the Juvenile Justice Authority, as approved by commissioners:

• Tutoring for Success, a drop-in program for students at Baldwin High School, which had received $8,750 last year and had requested $10,854 for this coming year.

• Bulldog Den, a drop-in program for junior high students in Baldwin City, which received $7,180 last year and had requested $8,045 for the coming year.

• Math & Reading Support at Baldwin Elementary School, which received $4,462 last year and had sought $5,000 for the coming year.

• Reading & Math Program at Eudora West Elementary School, which had received $3,866 last year and had requested $4,332 for this coming year.

All will have an opportunity to seek financing elsewhere, said Pam Weigand, Douglas County’s youth services director.
