LHS volleyball second at Maize Invitational

Lawrence High’s volleyball team took second place Saturday in the Maize Invitational. The Lions lost to Maize, 28-26, 25-22, in the championship match.

The Lions defeated Wichita Northwest, 19-25, 25-15, 25-22, in the semifinals.

In pool play, LHS defeated Maize South, 25-23, 25-17; lost to Newton, 25-23, 14-25, 25-17; defeated Derby, 25-21, 15-25, 25-21; and defeated Wichita North, 23-25, 25-9, 25-15.

Kiely Mosiman had 134 assists on the day to lead the Lions. Kendyll Severa had 79 digs. Jasmyn Turner had 49 digs and 51 kills; Alex Kincaid had 31 digs; Lillian Schonewise had 60 kills and 14 blocks; Carrie Klemencic had 24 kills and 11 blocks; Mary Coldsnow had 27 kills; and Kelsey Broadwell had 20 kills.
