Topeka — Roy Wedge won the individual title, and five of his Lawrence High cross country teammates placed in the top 10 as the Lions cruised to the team title Saturday at the Shawnee Heights Invitational at Lake Shawnee.
Joe Springer (third), Nicolas Shump (fifth), Calvin Morgan (sixth), Zach Andregg (ninth) and Simon Fangman (10th) helped LHS to 24 points. Runner-up Blue Valley West had 48.
“We’re excited,” Lawrence coach Brian Anderson said. “They ran well today.”
On the girls side, LHS placed third with 52 points. Blue Valley West won with 41.
Michala Ruder led the Lions with a fourth-place finish and was followed closely by Lucy Daldorph and Shelby Clark in fifth and sixth.
“I was really happy with the girls,” Anderson said. “Michala and Lucy ran well, and Shelby stepped up to the plate.”
