A Holcomb man was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital after his vehicle left the roadway outside Lawrence Friday morning.

According to accident reports, Pedro Jurado Rivas, 22, was traveling north on the turnpike about 1:38 a.m. when the incident occurred. Rivas had swerved to avoid hitting an animal in the road and lost control of his vehicle, which ended up running off the roadway.

Rivas was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released later Friday morning.
