Kansas University officials Monday mourned the loss of KU student Kara Louise Morgan, a junior from Lawrence.

Morgan died in a car accident on Saturday.

“Kara was a delight to have in class,” said Louise Krug, who taught Morgan in English 102 last semester, in a statement. “She was a happy, helpful, bright woman who saw the best in people. She was excited about her future and was working very hard to achieve her goals.”

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the Kara Morgan Memorial Fund, to be designated at a later date, sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
