Police seek suspects in connection with strong-arm robbery

Man reportedly forced into car, driven to North Lawrence motel, robbed

Police were investigating Monday a reported battery, aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated robbery that occurred between midnight and 2:00 a.m.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl and offense reports, police responded to a call at 2:07 a.m. from a 37-year-old Lawrence man reporting he had been forced into a car, driven to Jayhawk Motel, 1004 N. Third St., and robbed.

The man was in the 1700 block of W. 24th Street when a red four-door vehicle, believed to be driven by a black female, pulled over near him. The passengers, described as a heavy-set black male wearing a black shirt and a smaller black male wearing a red shirt, got out of the car and asked the victim to get into the vehicle.

When the man refused, the suspects struck him on the head and forced him into the vehicle. The suspects then drove the victim to the North Lawrence motel, where they apparently robbed him of $800 cash. No weapons were used or shown in the robbery.

As of Wednesday, police had not made any arrests in connection with the incident.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Lawrence Police at (785) 832-7509 or the TIPS hot line at (785) 843-TIPS.
