KU to offer events for Constitution Day
The Dole Institute of Politics will be host to several Constitution Day events in the coming weeks.
“Constitutionalism Across the Pond: A Constitution Day Dialogue” will feature Brian Barker, a circuit judge at the Old Bailey in London, and Richard E. Levy, the J.B. Smith Distinguished Professor of Constitutional Law at the KU School of Law. The two will compare the constitutional traditions in the United States and the United Kingdom.
The forum is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Dole Institute, and is free and open to the public.
At 1 p.m. on Constitution Day, Sept. 17, student body President Mason Heilman and Vice President May Davis will lead Jayhawks in reciting the preamble to the Constitution on Wescoe Beach, and Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little will lead a Memorial Stadium football crowd in the preamble before the 11 a.m. kickoff against Duke on Sept. 19.
