Briscoe, three others to miss UNC game

Four Kansas University football players, including standout receiver Dezmon Briscoe, will miss tonight’s season-opening game against Northern Colorado, the Journal-World has learned.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Briscoe, receiver Raimond Pendleton, defensive tackle Jamal Greene and defensive end Jeff Wheeler will be held out of the game as punishment for a violation of undisclosed team rules.

On the team’s most recent depth chart, only Briscoe was listed as a projected starter this season. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Dallas native earned honorable mention all-American honors from Sports Illustrated last year after catching 92 passes for 1,407 yards and 15 touchdowns and was tabbed a preseason all-Big 12 selection this fall by the league’s media.

It was not immediately clear who would start in place of the suspended players against Northern Colorado.
