Gas line break slows traffic on East 23rd

Traffic on 23rd Street was slowed early Friday evening because of a gas line break.

Curt Floerchinger, Black Hills spokesman, says a third party struck a two-inch gas line shortly after 5 p.m., rupturing it.

A crew from Black Hills Energy and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical attended to the scene while Lawrence police directed traffic.

The line was repaired at about 7 p.m., and traffic on 23rd has returned to normal.
