Two area fire departments are planning open houses on Saturday.

Stranger Township Fire Department will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while Reno Township Fire Department’s is set for 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to meeting firefighters, highway patrol officers and members of Leavenworth County Emergency Medical Service, visitors to the Stranger Township department, 19501 State Ave., visitors will be offered hot dogs, chips, dessert and drinks.

At Reno Township Fire Department, 12755 238th St., a safety house – on loan from the Bonner Springs Fire Department – will be available for youth education.
