‘Medical home’ concept topic of health talk

Kansas University Medical Center will host a presentation on health care reform and how it relates to primary and pediatric care.

Dr. David Tayloe, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, will discuss the history and development of the medical home concept. Medical home, also known as patient-centered medical home, is an approach to providing primary care that facilitates partnerships among individual patients and their personal physicians and, when appropriate, the patient’s family. Tayloe will talk about the connection between the medical home and health care reform and how subspecialists and community physicians can work together on medical home issues.

The presentation, which is open to anyone, will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Med Center’s Wahl Hall East auditorium, near 39th Street and Rainbow Boulevard in Kansas City, Kan.
