The Perry Yacht Club in Meriden caught fire early Tuesday morning, fire officials said.

Five fire departments battled the blaze for more than two hours, which was contained to the club's main building that houses the kitchen and bathrooms. No boats were caught up in the blaze.

Fire officials said they had no damage estimate and that the state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.

I saw some of the photos from the fire, it was really bad. I spent most of my childhood summers at PYC, and spent many years playing in the sandbox and running around the clubhouse. I'm sure they will build a much nicer one to replace it, but the old one held so many fond memories. I haven't been up there for a few summers, I wonder if the old photos and trophies were still in cases at the clubhouse? Would be very sad to lose that stuff as well.

jayhawker, where did you see those photos? I too spent some time at PYC a few years back. Sad to hear about this loss.
