Sociology professor first to win award
Kansas University sociology professor Joey Sprague is the first recipient of the E. Jackson Baur Professorship in Sociology.
The professorship allows Sprague to receive a one-course reduction in teaching responsibilities and a $5,000 stipend to support her research.
Sprague, a faculty member at KU since 1985, will have the title for one year. She teaches classes in feminist theory, research methods, sociology of knowledge and social psychology.
The award may be used for salary support, travel and other costs associated with the advancement of the recipient’s research.
Support for the professorship comes from the estate of former KU professor E. Jackson “Jack” Baur and his wife, Lillian Jacoby Baur.
