Eudora man transferred to KU Hospital from LMH

A Eudora man who was injured Monday in a head-on collision southwest of Eudora has been transferred to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.

But family members said on Tuesday that 72-year-old Everett Farmer Jr.’s condition was improving, and he was expected to be removed from the intensive care unit. Farmer was originally taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital and transferred later Monday to KU Hospital, LMH spokeswoman Belinda Rehmer said.

A KU Hospital spokesman said a condition update on Farmer’s condition was unavailable Tuesday because of the hospital’s patient privacy policy.

Farmer was injured in a two-vehicle wreck in the 1800 section of County Road 458, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s office. Sheriff’s officers said 18-year-old Nicholas Mann, of Wellsville, drove his Ford Taurus left of the center line and eventually caused a two-vehicle, head-on collision with Farmer’s pickup truck.

The sheriff’s office said Monday that Mann was flown by helicopter ambulance from the scene to KU Hospital. Hospital officials Tuesday were unable to provide an update on Mann’s condition.
