Hotel pioneer to give Vickers Memorial Lecture at KU

Jack DeBoer, chairman of Consolidated Holdings, Inc., is scheduled to deliver a lecture next Tuesday at Kansas University.

The pioneer of the all-suite hotel concept is scheduled to deliver the KU School of Business’ annual Vickers Memorial Lecture at 6 p.m. at the Lied Center.

No tickets are required for the event, which is free and open to the public. DeBoer’s talk is on “Success is Never Permanent, Neither is Failure: 25 Specific Things to Help You in Life and in Business.”

DeBoer designed and built the first Residence Inn all-suite hotel in Wichita in 1975, later selling the company to Marriott Corp. He then co-founded Summerfield Hotel Corp., before selling to Hyatt, and then founded Candlewood Hotel Co., later sold to InterContinental Hotels.
