Three charges, including rape, filed against Lawrence man
Charges of rape, aggravated burglary and intimidation of a victim were filed Monday against a 26-year-old Lawrence man, prosecutors said.
The suspect was arrested Saturday morning in the 900 block of East 15th Street, in connection with a reported rape in the 2300 block of West 26th Street.
Emergency dispatchers sent police to the scene at 3:05 a.m. Saturday. The victim alleged that the suspect, an ex-boyfriend, threw her to the ground and began trying to remove her clothing, police said.
The Journal-World generally does not name suspects of sex crimes unless there is a conviction.
The suspect had his first appearance Monday afternoon in Douglas County District Court and was scheduled to return for a hearing on Tuesday, court records said. His bond was set at $45,000.
