Lawrence High boys fall, 53-52

Shawnee Mission East’s Marcus Webb banked in a three-pointer with 3.4 seconds left, lifting the Lancers to a 53-52 victory over the Lawrence High boys in the second round of Sub-State on Friday at Lawrence Free State High School.

With the victory, the Lancers advance to the 6A state tournament next week in Emporia.

The Lions took a 52-50 lead on a Marcus Ray layup with 11 seconds left.

When Webb’s shot went through, it was only the Lancers’ second lead of the night; the other SME lead was 2-0.

Dorian Green led all scorers with 19 points.

LHS ended its season with a 13-9 record.
