Regents agree to discuss changes to audit policies

June 24, 2009

— The Kansas Board of Regents will discuss its audit policy on Thursday.

Regents Chairwoman Donna Shank on Wednesday added the discussion item to the agenda but didn't comment further on the issue.

Last week, the regents released an audit of Kansas State University that outlined numerous questionable financial transactions.

Similar audits are being done at Kansas University and Pittsburg State University as part of the transition of leadership at those schools.

There have been calls from some to conduct these audits more frequently, and to make sure they are provided to the public.

With the small percentage of the budget that comes from the state, one wonders if KU is still a 'public' university.
