Kansas University student Daniel S. Persons, 19, died Sunday morning in a traffic accident east of El Dorado.

Persons, from Towanda, had completed his freshman year in the School of Architecture and Urban Design and was enrolled in classes for the fall term.

“His curiosity about the world, combined with artistic talent, a strong work ethic and a congenial personality gave him unusual promise as an architecture student,” said Michael M. Swann, associate dean in the school, in a statement. “He will be missed greatly by his fellow students and by his instructors in the school.”

A rosary is scheduled at 7 p.m. Wednesday and a funeral mass for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John Catholic Church in El Dorado. The family suggests donations to the Dan Persons Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of the Circle School District Foundation, 905 E. Main St., Towanda, KS 67144.
