A 35-year-old Lawrence woman was arrested Sunday evening on charges of theft totaling more than $1,000.

According to Lawrence Police, the woman stole a purse about 7 p.m. from Jefferson’s Restaurant, 743 Mass. Restaurant employees contacted the police and followed the woman as she left the business.

The woman was arrested in the 700 block of Vermont Street and booked into the Douglas County Jail at 8:35 p.m. on $1,500 bond.
