Lawrence police were called to a report of a robbery early Tuesday evening at the Lawrence Community Building, 115 W. 11th St.

Lawrence police Capt. Ray Urbanek said the victim was playing basketball when he noticed a group of about six teens stealing his backpack. The victim confronted the suspects. Urbanek said that’s when one of the suspects claimed to have a knife.

The suspects got away with the victim’s cell phone but gave the backpack back.

Police are looking for a black and white Chevrolet four-door vehicle, possibly associated with the incident.
