NIH gives $18.5 million to research unit at KUMC

? A biomedical research group based at the University of Kansas Medical Center has been awarded $18.5 million.

The money from the National Institutes of Health will help the Kansas IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence continue to promote biomedical research in Kansas.

With the latest award, the NIH has now given a total of $44.2 million to the network, which works in part to encourage students to consider biomedical research. The network also helps faculty strengthen biomedical programs and encourages development of biomedical research technology.

The program supports collaboration between researchers at nine Kansas universities and Langston University in Oklahoma.
