Jury selected in kidnapping, battery case
After a full day of questionning potential jurors, attorneys selected a jury to hear the case of a former Kansas University student accused of beating and kidnapping his ex-girlfriend.
The 12 jurors and two alternates were sworn in around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday. Nine men and five women were chosen to hear the case.
Opening statements are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Matthew Jaeger is facing multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping and aggravated battery, stemming from an incident on Oct. 9, 2007.
He’s accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in the 1200 block of George Court and becoming enraged after finding her with another man.
The trial is expected to last up to three weeks.
