Pair accused of ice cream truck drug sales

? Leavenworth police have arrested two people suspected of selling drug paraphernalia and marijuana from an ice cream truck.

Chief Patrick Kitchens said a 20-year-old man from Kansas City, Mo., and 17-year-old boy from Lawrence were nabbed after a parent tried to buy ice cream Thursday evening and was asked whether he also wanted to buy a bong.

The parent notified police and said the two made the same offer to him last week.

Police said an officer who pulled the truck over later Thursday found six bongs and a small amount of marijuana.

Kitchens said the ice cream company is not suspected of being involved with the alleged drug venture.

Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson said he was reviewing the case and hasn’t yet filed charges.
